Intro

Hi! My name is Rachel Krill and for my senior project I've been working on the drivetrain for the RC Baja Vehicle with project partner Joe Fritz. The motivation for this project is to learn how to mechanically design a remote controlled vehicle with certain specifications in order to strengthen my skills as an engineer. I look forward to gaining vast hands on experience by completing this project and racing it this spring.

Results

The results from testing the RC vehicles acceleration, deceleration and top speed were not the exact same values as predicted. However, the vehicles acceleration of 7.25 ft/s/s is close to the predicted value of 7 ft/s/s. The vehicles average deceleration of -6.90 ft/s/s is also close to the predicted value of -5ft/s/s. The project turned out well, as it won the competition. Also, the results of the project are accurate, representative, and relevant to the success of the RC car because the vehicle accelerated and decelerated within an acceptable range of +/- 2 ft/s/s. The top speed of the car has yet to be tested.
